Province invests $3 million to guard Lake Simcoe

Holland Marsh vegetable farmers can share in as a lot as $3 million in provincial funding to assist them cut back the quantity of phosphorus coming into Lake Simcoe.

Functions for the brand new Farm Washwater Innovation and Stewardship Efforts (Farm WISE) Fund might be accepted till Oct. 5, 2025, the Ministry of the Atmosphere, Conservation, and Parks introduced Aug. 6.

The Farm WISE Fund was developed to assist farmers undertake applied sciences to enhance water use on farms and deal with water that has been used to clean produce. Eligible farmers can obtain as much as $375,000 per venture.

“The Holland Marsh is Canada’s most efficient vegetable rising area and we’re giving farmers the instruments they should preserve the area’s watershed a cleaner, safer place to develop meals, work and lift households,” Minister Todd McCarthy acknowledged. “This new fund is simply one of many methods our authorities is empowering communities to guard the air, land and water in Ontario for generations to return.”
