Ontario hearth crews battled extra wildfires in 2025, responding to 643 that burned some 597,654 acres from April to October.

“I’m grateful to each single member of our wildland hearth response workforce, the heroes that dedicate their lives to defending Ontario throughout hearth season,” MNR minister Mike Harris said in a Nov. 3 launch. “From battling fires on the bottom to coordinating evacuations by air, our authorities is happy with the FireRangers, pilots and people behind the scenes who demonstrated bravery and dedication whereas responding to fires in Ontario and throughout the nation.”
