Ask A CO: On skunk dispatch poles

Q: Is a skunk “dispatch pole” authorized to be used on skunks in Ontario? There are lots of (possible American) movies of them getting used on YouTube.

A: Usually talking, these wouldn’t be authorized to use to dispatch a skunk, as the tactic of killing is definitely the injection of poison into the animal. The use of poison to kill wildlife is prohibited by subsection 29(1) of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997.
